Cleansers, toners, masks and more, we're all hyped up in taking care of our skin, as we should be but are we over doing it? Not every product we come across is meant to be used daily. Here are 3 skincare products you may want to cut back on.
1) Scrubs and other exfoliating products, don't over do it! We all love a good scrubbin' and that fresh skin feel after but exfoliation should not be practiced daily. Depending on your skin type you can exfoliate 2-3 times a week, any more than that may cause more harm than good as you may be removing more top layer skin cells than you actually want leaving your skin exposed and vulnerable.
2) Cleansers! Yep, over cleansing is a thing and you can definitely be doing it. Washing your skin multiple times a day is only recommended when you've been working out mid day or maybe you need to remove your makeup or something along those lines. Over cleansing can strip you of your natural moisture and dry out your complexion so hold back on the mid day face washing and always use gentle and natural products for this.
3) Raise your hand if you can't help but to love a good mask, daily! Right, me too. I'm a sucker for masks. You don't have to stop masking but do try to alternate between masks, check the ingredients to make sure your masks are serving a different purpose. Over using, for example vitamin C masks, can irritate your skin just like over using clay masks can dry your skin out.
Are you putting down the scrub, masks and wash yet? So hard I know. You don't have to stop using these amazing products, you just have to find the balance that works for YOUR skin. Making sure you alternate days and products can be the key to not over doing it. As always, listen to your skin and let it tell you what it loves, what it needs and what just isn't cutting it.
